Who We Are and What We Do
Razz And Fiends is a quintet based group with Barbara Jean, an exceptionally fine vocalist,
Razz (a.k.a. Ralph Rasmusson) plays alto and tenor saxophones, clarinet, flute and harmonica
(he's even known to sing occasionally in duet with Barbara Jean), and our rhythm section of
Frank Farina on piano, Bill Winchester on drums and Lloyd Howard on bass.
Razz And Friends' repertoire consists primarily of songs from the great American songbook by
Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and other fine composers. We feature original songs by Barbara
Jean done in the American standards tradition. Also included are selections from the genres of
country, blues, polkas, dixieland and ethnic songs to suit the needs and preferences of our
audience. We can also perform arrangements of specific songs for particular social events
such as wedding receptions, anniversaries, birthdays, group or company occasions, class
reunion anniversaries, and other private events. There is a mixture of dance, vocal and
instrumental tunes that are performed in a trio, quartet or full group format. And we do take
requests.
We play primarily in the Jamestown, NY, and surrounding communities, performing at private
events which include residences, company facilities and club settings. We also perform public
performances at area restaurants, seasonally at town parks, and special public events of a
community nature. Some of the venues we play at are Vullo's Restaurant, the American Legion
in Lakewood, the American Legion in Frewsburg, the American Legion in Warren, PA, the
Vikings Club, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, the Moonbrook Country Club, the Satuday-Night
Dance Club in Warren, PA, the Dance Club of Port Allegany, PA and the Jamestown Ice Rink.
Razz And Friends participates a number of public events sponsored by local municipalities at
area parks during the summer months at Falconer, Lakewood, Celoron, South Dayton,
Gowanda, Dunkirk, and Warren, PA.
